Elizabeth Higgins

Elizabeth Higgins is a small business owner and also has over ten years of experience working in the nonprofit and government sectors. She is motivated by missions and draws energy from leaders who passionately pursue doing good.

As the Deputy Director for Serve Indiana, she was responsible for the grant application and review process to distribute millions of dollars of state and federal funds to nonprofit organizations. Her role included the oversight and monitoring of those funds and programs.

Later in her career, Elizabeth enjoyed her role as a Senior Project Consultant working for a private consulting firm. She worked directly with nonprofit and government organizations developing programs and acquiring grant funding to meet some of our nation’s most pressing needs. She collaborated with finance departments in building budgets that would support programmatic objectives and led strategic planning meetings to ensure all actions taken were in line with the client’s missions and that their staff had complete buy-in to the steps ahead. Additionally, she helped develop workforce and career pathway programs and increase opportunities for small businesses to access support resources.

She has a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management, a Bachelors Degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a certified mediator, an experienced paralegal, and has obtained certifications in bookkeeping and budgeting to round out her education.
